ARC has rebooted its water testing program in conjunction with the Sea Scouts. In the past, ARC members did water testing, but discontinued the testing. Five sites will be tested at intervals. Testing sites will be upstream of Wichita in the Arkansas River and Little Arkansas River, Chapin Park,71st. Boat launch site and 83rd.st. The tests include:

Air Temperature
Water Temperature
Coliform Bacteria
Dissolved Oxygen
% Oxygen Saturation
Biochemical Oxygen Demand
Nitrates
Phosphates
pH
Turbidity
There will be a total of 50 tests ( one test at each of the 5 sites monthly for 10 months)
The data collected will be put into a report that Sea Scout Lizzy will compile with Marylee and submit for the Stockholm Water Prize, an international award recognizing outstanding contributions to the sustainable use and protection of the worlds resources It will also be packaged into a report we can put out into the world and ARC Newsletter.
The ARC BOD will discuss adding PFAS testing to the testing program at the next Meeting. The PFAS test kit tests for 55 PFAS chemicals.
